Whiskey Tasting Experiences

Cooking and Baking with Whiskey: So much more than a pour!

‘Tis the season for dusting off some old family recipes, tried and true favorites, or maybe even trying something new to wow your loved ones and guests this holiday season.

Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday and making the Thanksgiving meal is something I absolutely love to do. I also really enjoy the leftovers. There is nothing quite like that first turkey sandwich after everyone has gone home for the day. Sipping on some awesome bourbon and whiskeys are also a big part of the celebrations at our house—after all the best pours of whiskey are the ones we share with family and friends. As I learn the palates and favorites of my family and friends, it’s always great to make recommendations and enjoy some fantastic pours with everyone.

A crowd favorite at our gathering is my Bourbon Apple Pie I make every year. It is a recipe that I found from the Food Network, but it has become a classic for us, and using Old Forester 86 in the recipe brings the sweet and baking spice flavors to a whole new level.

To go along with the pies, how about some fresh made whipped cream with a bit of whiskey in it for added flavor for the guests 21 and over? We can argue later about what is the best ratio of whipped cream to pie, but this recipe might just tip the balance for you to add more than usual.

How do bourbon and whiskey make their way into your holiday recipes and celebrations? Do you have favorites to share and inspire others? Or do you have any special bottles you are looking forward to sharing at your gatherings? Let us know what you have planned.

Cheers to you and yours as we celebrate the season!
