So, you want to host a whiskey tasting? Great!! We are going to have so much fun!
The world of bourbon and whiskey can seem intimidating, but Belle of the Barrel is here to help make amazing experiences happen for beginners, whiskey connoisseurs, and everyone in between. Here are a couple of notes of what to expect and what’s needed to make it happen.

Belle of the Barrel will provide:
- A custom tasting mat for the experience
- Glassware for the whiskey pours (and we’ll do the dishes!)
- Small nibbles for palate cleansing and taste pairings (Please notify us if anyone has food allergies.)
- Guidance on how to best taste your whiskey, history of bourbon, fun facts, and information about distilleries and what makes the pours you selected distinct and unique
The host/hostess should provide:
- Bottled water (or glasses and a refillable pitcher) for all your guests. Not only is it best to keep everyone hydrated, but water is also a great palate cleanser. It is also helpful to have some ice on hand, in case someone enjoys their pours of whiskey on the rocks.
- Some snacks and appetizers to eat, or if you wish to have a meal, that’s great too. It’s up to you! Please avoid foods with overly strong flavors like raw onion, garlic, spicy sauces or anything with a potent or overpowering flavor. This can affect the palate for tasting whiskey.
- Enough seating at tables for the number of guests you are expecting. We will have a few pours, along with a tasting mat to follow, so a sturdy, flat surface is necessary for your guests.
What we will work on together:
- We will coordinate which bourbons and/or whiskeys you would like to use for the tasting. We can work within a theme or with some of your favorite bottles and distilleries.
- A flight of 3 or 4 whiskeys is ideal. We are happy to use whiskeys from your own collection, but shopping for different selections can be arranged as well. We can also do a mix of both. (Additional fees may apply if shopping is necessary.)
- We will make sure your guests are having a great time!
